TRAVEL + LEISURE MAGAZINE HAS NAMED CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA “THE BEST CITY IN THE U.S.” FOR THE EIGHTH STRAIGHT YEAR. AND THIS FORMER NEW YORKER, SEABROOK ISLAND REAL ESTATE OWNER WHOLE-HEARTEDLY AGREES.

In October 2018, after nearly 4 years of traveling and living abroad, my husband and I moved our family to Charleston, South Carolina. We could have gone anywhere in the world, but like so many others, we were drawn in by the city of Charleston, the dining, the beaches, the history, the architecture of its homes, and the low country lifestyle. It all started with what was supposed to be a 2-week visit. We booked ourselves an Airbnb on James Island with the intention of spending 2 weeks in South Carolina, followed by 2 weeks in Georgia. As the result, we feel so head over heels for the city of Charleston that we had no desire to go anywhere else, we realized that 2 weeks just wasn’t enough time to explore all this coastal South Carolina city had to offer.

Charleston is a city unlike any other, and we’ve been to many. While it is considered to be a small city, Charleston is unique in that it offers much of what the major cities do. As former New Yorkers, we wanted some aspects of city life, but as world travelers, we came to realize that what we wanted most wanted was the ability to go between the quiet life of a serene coastal community and city attractions. We found everything we were looking for in Charleston county: homes with beautiful architecture, rich history, a gorgeous landscape, great year-round weather, dining, hospitable people, pristine beaches, salt marsh views, culture, great secondary school options for our boys, a bustling economy and proximity to an international airport.

Discovering Homes For Sale Seabrook Island South Carolina – A Serene Oceanfront Community

In December 2019, a little after a year after our move to Charleston county we decided it was time to put down roots. My husband, a home builder, and I decided it was time to build our dream home on the South Carolina coast. We were looking for a community that gave us easy access to Charleston amenities, uncrowded beaches, dining options, and variety in its home designs. We found all of this and more on Seabrook Island.

Seabrook Island is a gated private community on the Real Estate Seabrook Island South Carolina coast. Like Kiawah Island, it is part of Johns Island and a quick drive into downtown Charleston. Some of the amenities that attracted us to Seabrook Island real estate: the lake house with its state of the art fitness center, beachfront club pools, championship golf courses, racquet club, the equestrian center, a marina, on Island dining, a pristine and private beach, living under majestic oak trees and the variety of home designs. But the biggest attraction to our family is the spirit of the community among Seabrook island residents and owners.

Investing in Seabrook Island Real Estate For Sale

After a short time visiting and getting to enjoy some of the Islands amenities and features, we decide to invest in Seabrook Island real estate. We purchased our home site (lot) in the summer of 2020 and began our family journey as Seabrook Island property owners. We are building a home that is designed for our family and so many others live. We feel blessed to be a part of this community and look forward to years of happy memories with our family, friends, and neighbors.

Additional things to consider

Additional questions to ask before selling your Seabrook Island home

  • Affinity: Does the listing agent have an affinity for Seabrook Island?
  • Appreciation: Does he/she appreciate your home?
  • Value: Does he/she appreciate the value of owning and living in a private gated community?
  • Real Estate Agent: Is the agent taking market value and conditions into consideration when suggesting a list price? or are they suggesting a price that is lower than market value? and leaving your money on the table.
